Buzzfeed has approached Tom Welling on whether or not he would be playing Clark Kent or Superman on Season 2 of "Supergirl." His response has been less than encouraging.

During the interview, the actor explained his chances on being on the show by stating, "There's people who would like it. There's people who don't like it, but I will tell you that no one has ever asked me to do it."

"It would be kind of odd. I don't know who he is at that point," Welling.

Clark Kent/Superman's presence on the Supergirl show cannot be ignored. He has been seen as a baby, as a shadowy figure and messaging Kara at some point in the show, USA Today stated.

Plus, recent news reports by Comic Book Movie have confirmed that producers have selected Daniel DiMaggio to play the role of Clark Kent as a youngster. DiMaggio will be appearing in the Feb.8 episode entitled "For The Girl Who Has Everything."

With all the recent mentions of Superman, fans were starting to wonder when they would see the adult form of the Man of Steel in the show. Some believed Tom Welling would best fit the role.

Tom Welling played the role of Superman on Smallville for 10 years. According to Cinema Blend, the show ran from 2001 to 2011 and featured Clark Kent's teenage and early adult years.

Inquisitr reports indicate that the Welling rumor began in April 2015.

"Now, from what I gather, this Superman is going to be played by Tom Welling and his Superman may or may not be tied to "Smallville" but I think that the end season 1 would introduce an alternate timeline where Superman exists and Caitlin and Cisco are metahumans."

Welling working on CBS' new series Section 13 further fueled this speculation.

Although Welling's response makes it unlikely for him to don on the suit and cape again, the movie reviews site believes it is not mean he won't be in the series in another role.

Dean Cain, who played Clark/Superman in "Lois & Clark: The New Adventure," and Helen Slater, who took the role of Kara during the "Supergirl" movie, are also in the TV series as Kara's adoptive parents. Laura Vandervoot played Kara on "Smallville" and will also appear on the television show as Indigo.

If Welling doesn't get picked as Kara's cousin in the show, it is still possible that viewers will see him in another capacity.
