Let's just say that winters might just be good at hiding the varicose veins, from plain sight, but it isn't helping the condition. An interventional radiologist and the founder of VeinCentre, which is a vein removal clinic, Dr. David West explains that the problem with varicose vein is amplified during the winter because of certain triggering issues. Here is the list of things which might make that vein pop.

  • The weight gain of the winter: Winters are synonymous to goodies and treat and holidays, in which people splurge recklessly and make bad eating habits their companion. Now, this would trigger the weight gaining process. Because of the weight gain, the legs are unable to properly pump blood back to the heart, making it quite difficult for the people with their varicose vein problems, revealed Mail Online.
  • Hot baths, saunas and under floor heating: According to Health 24,the aforementioned list might be a delight for everybody who might have to bare the winter chills but all of them causes the veins to flare up. The heat would make the vein to dilate just like a radiator, thus making it to grow in size and become more prominent.
  • No exercise and bad symptoms:The lack of exercise during the winters, make the pumping of blood a little too difficult for the legs. Now, the pool of blood causes the veins to stretch making it ache and pain a lot worse, than during the summer times. Thus, it is better to exercise for the calf muscles to perform properly.

The above mentioned conditions are the main causes behind the worsening of the symptoms of people with varicose vein. They must be avoided and this will lead to a healthy lifestyle.
