No matter how sleepy a person is, there's still a tendency to wake up in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, it will be hard to go back to sleep by then and this often results in doing some things such as looking at a mobile device to check the time or get up to drink a glass of water. A so-called "sleep doctor" has revealed two things that anyone should avoid in case they want to continue having a peaceful doze.

Looking at the time, in the middle of the night, in case a person accidently woke himself up usually happens to everyone. However, Dr. Michael Breus told Insider that it should not be something to worry about. In fact, this is a usual habit of every person whenever their peaceful slumber is disturbed -- however, this is a mistake.

According to Daily Mail, instead of counting the number of hours until a person is supposed to wake up, it;s best to just ignore the time. Frequently or accidentally checking the time only leads to anxiety and as a result, it would only prevent someone from going back to sleep.

This may be easier said than done. Normally, a person is desperate to relieve the tension in his bladder by urinating or get up and look for something to drink. However, by doing so, a person only struggles to go back to sleep. Leaving the bed only lets the heart to pump more blood, waking the whole system again.

Going back to sleep after being awakened accidentally means having a lower, resting state. This does not happen easily especially upon waking up in the middle of the night, therefore, it's best to stay in bed and avoid the temptation of getting up for a quick bathroom visit or drinking.
