Funny man John Goodman has always struggled with his weight but it seems as his body issues are now a thing of the past as he was photographed looking slimmer and fitter than ever when he stepped out to attend the “Trumbo” London premiere last Thursday night. The 63-year-old “Roseanne” actor gave his younger co-stars Bryan Adele Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Bryan Cranston some serious competition in the suit-wearing department as the cast posed for a picture together with Hellen Mirren.

People Magazine writes that Goodman has been very open about his weight problems, candidly saying that it takes a lot of energy to sit and think about the next food to eat. Back in 2011, the actor admitted to weighing 400 lbs., his all-time heaviest, during a David Letterman appearance and since then, he tried to cut back and reduce his weight.

Celebrity Health & Fitness reports that today, the actor has lost over 100 pounds, crediting his no-sugar, no-alcohol diet and religious exercise regimen. He said that he got tired of being fat and felt that he was wasting away his life. Goodman began his weight loss journey by quitting alcohol and cigarette smoking in 2007 and hiring celebrity fitness trainer Mackie Shilstone.

Celebrities and other media personalities have praised the actor for finally achieving his desired weight and for looking good, taking their congratulatory words to Twitter, even though the actor has no personal Twitter.

While critics and trolls continue to associate Goodman’s massive weight loss to surgery, his trainer tells otherwise, The Examiner adds. Shilstone shares that the actor was very determined to be fit, running and working out six times a week. The trainer also explains that Goodman often puts his old image in his head to remember what it feels like to be heavy and he uses it as a motivation to shed more pounds.

Goodman, who never seems to run out of jokes and funny anecdotes, states that he is very happy with what he has achieved, adding that he can finally wear nicer clothes and look fashionable again.
