The second-generation Apple Watch is rumored to be in the works with various improvements and will be released by June 2016, according to rumors.

Mac Rumors cited a report made by a Chinese website that the next-gen Apple Watch may be developed by Quanta Computer.

Barry Lam, the chairman of Quanta Computer reportedly made statements that the next wearable device which is allegedly the Apple Watch 2 is on the development stage. The outlet reports that the gadget may roll out to the public in mid-2016.

The Apple Watch debuted in April this year and is the first wearable tech from Apple. As with many first-generation products, the Apple Watch 1 had certain limitations including the need to be always paired with a smartphone in order to be functional. CNET reports the Apple released a second version of the Watch's software called WatchOS 2 to help bypass the smartphone-connectivity limitation. The update will enable users to run some apps directly plus some other features including "time travel" which allows scrolling of appointments and events and new watch faces.

Softpedia reports that the Apple Watch 2 will rumoredly come with better improvements and features such as a GPS support, which according to the outlet will be more helpful for fitness apps to monitor user activity without the help of a smartphone. The website adds that Apple Watch 2 may be made more durable and may have a slightly different design than its predecessor.

Design & Trend reports that the internal specs of the new smartwatch will be "thinner and faster" and will reportedly come with a camera for users to use for video chats in FaceTime.

However, a report by Yahoo states that the new smartwatch will have the same design and size with an identical body as the first one which means that the new smartwatch may be able to use the straps of the first. Additionally, the Watch 2 won't be thinner even if the display is thinned down because the battery will reportedly be bigger which suggests that it will have longer battery life. LG and Samsung both have been tagged to create the displays for Apple Watch 2.

With regards to video calling, the outlet adds that the new gadget may come with "tether-less" connection in order to make video calling faster with direct Wi-Fi and make it more seamless without the use of a Bluetooth connection.

There is no confirmed news for the price of Apple Watch 2. However, 9to5Mac suggests that the materials used in the smartwatch will determine the pricing.
