Toyota, the largest auto maker in the world in recent years in terms of global sales (although, Volkswagen, definitely, has got something to say about that this 2015), seems like would really want to step it up a notch when it comes to the hybrid vehicle games. Currently, it has sold around 8 million hybrid cars worldwide since 1997.

Today, the company still got the metal to the pedal, so to speak, with the addition of a new gas-electric crossbreed variant to their latest 2016 Rav4 model. As a matter of fact, Toyota boosted its hybrid lineup to a total of eight --- and that is not considering the six other more in their luxury vehicle division, Lexus, the Sports Car Illustrated noted.

And, why not? The demand for fuel-efficient cars has never seen this huge, especially among the millennials, and hybrid cars like the 2016 Toyota Rav4 model are surely worth investing for. Aside from that, the Rav4 hybrid also has other exciting new features to watch out for.

This new hybrid vehicle from Toyota makes use of the tandem of the 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine and an electric motor to optimize power and fuel efficiency at the same time. The Rav4 Hybrid has a combined output of 194 system horsepower with 206 lb.-ft. of total system torque.

The updated design of this new vehicle makes it quite a stunner, but with a little bit of a trim-down on its visage making it less furious and brute-looking unlike the 2016 Toyota Prius Hybrid. At the front, there are apparent design changes including a slender upper grille, which anchors new LED or halogen headlamp units, wider middle grille and a bigger lower, trapezoidal grille. It also has cleaner profile with newly trimmed wheel arches and sills, as well as new 17 and 18-inch alloy wheel designs.

The new hybrid Rav4 will come in nine different colors, two of which are the new shades of dark red and blue metallic.

Cheat Sheet described the new Rav4 as a "technological hub for this quadrant of the universe," because of the technology and safety features incorporated in the vehicle, such as infotainment connectivity, fully-syncing climate control, auto sensing hill start assist, trailer sway control, front and rear parking sonar aids and blind spot monitoring.

The 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is available in two variants, the XLE and Limited, which are both capable of all-wheel drive. The XLE has a price tag of around $28,000, while the Limited comes at about $33,000. This is just the kind of affordable small SUV hybrid, a lot of people are clamoring for, the ConsumerReports noted.
