While Marvel Studios has already been relishing in their success at the box office, thanks largely to their well-received films like "The Avengers," "Iron Man," "Captain America," "Thor" and "Guardians of the Galaxy," among others, DC Entertainment's efforts to carve out their own niche in the motion picture industry and amass their own horde of movie supporters just got under way.

Marvel Cinematic Universe is already in Phase 3 as compared to only one film, "Man of Steel," so far from the DC Extended Universe. But, the fans of DC Comics will surely be happy about the strong movie lineup the media franchise has in stored for them like the upcoming "Wonder Woman" film set to be released on June 23, 2017.

The new DC Comics-based movie will have Israeli actress and beauty queen Gal Gadot in its lead role for the character of Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman. However, before headlining her first standalone superhero movie, the 30-year-old actress who was first widely recognized for her role in the hit "Fast & Furious" series will also be making an appearance in the upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" film, which opens on March 25, 2016.

The actress just recently shared the first official photo of herself in a Wonder Woman costume via her Twitter account, according to Screen Rant. Although, the image does not reveal the full costume just yet, one can still make out the warrior princess' armor under the dark robe she is wearing. But, for those who would want to see more of her, a glimpse of Wonder Woman in action was already shown in the "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie trailer in YouTube.

Warner Bros. has also announced the other cast members set to join Gadot in the film through a press release. It reads: "The film also stars Chris Pine (the "Star Trek" films) as Captain Steve Trevor, Robin Wright ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," Netflix's "House of Cards"), Danny Huston ("Clash of the Titans," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"), David Thewlis (the "Harry Potter" films, "The Theory of Everything"), Ewen Bremner ("Exodus: Gods and Kings," "Snowpiercer"), Saïd Taghmaoui ("American Hustle"), Elena Anaya ("The Skin I Live In") and Lucy Davis ("Shaun of the Dead")."

The principal photography will be set in three European countries -- the UK, France and Italy. The film will be under the direction of Patty Jenkins ("Monster", AMC's "The Killing") and produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder.
