Chinese scientists have found out that eating white vegetables, such as cauliflowers, onions and potatoes, can reduce the risk of being diagnosed with stomach cancer. On the other hand, consuming salt, beer and preserved food can increase the possibility of developing the disease.

According to Telegraph, the study discovered that there is a reduced risk of contracting stomach cancer by five percent for every 100 g of fruit consumed by a person. On the other hand, the risk reduction of contracting the disease is eight percent for 50 mg of Vitamin C, which is equivalent to two potatoes.

On the other hand, there is an increased risk of 12 percent for salt consumption.

The Australian reported that the study is conducted by a group of epidemiologists in China's Zhejiang University. The Chinese scientists took the 76 best studies on diet and stomach diet for consideration. This means that the research studied the cases of more than 6.3 million people who have linked with the disease and over 33,000 stomach cancer-related deaths.

According to the authors of the study, there is a possibility that the reduced number of gastric cancer cases among developed countries is due to the wide availability of fresh fruits and vegetables, increased refrigeration usage and decreased consumption of preserved and salted food.

This claim is not baseless as the researchers put the fact that both fruits and vegetables are a great source for Vitamin C, which shows a protective effect against gastric cancer, in consideration.

White vegetables, including cauliflowers, onions and potatoes, are named to be the most effective fruits in preventing the attack of gastric cancer.

Aside from these white vegetables, cabbage, celery and kale are also found to show protective effects.

Aside from this, the researchers also found a relation between the risk of gastric cancer and the consumption of high-salt food.

They also found out that those who drink alcohol face a higher risk of getting stomach cancers compared to those who do not drink.

Stomach cancer is among the many issues that the world should be concerned of. Considering its high number of cases, it is something that should not be taken for granted.

Prevention is always better than cure. While there are treatments we can get for cancer, it is so much better to take advantage of these foods that are known to be great in preventing the occurrence of the disease.

According to Independent, there is a total of 13 people who die every day due to stomach cancer in Britain.

Do you think making people aware of the impact of their diet on their health can help decrease the number of gastric stomach cases? Tell us your opinion about it.
