The film "Revenant" from director Alejandro González Iñárritu was clearly the runaway winner at the recently concluded Golden Globes 2016. Leonardo DiCaprio was grateful for his third Golden Globe for Best Actor in Motion Picture Drama award as he tells the audience what the film really was for him.

"Wow! Thank you. What an incredible honor," he said. "This film was about survival, the triumph of the human spirit, but more than anything about trust. I have never had an experience like this in my entire life."

"The Revenant" was inspired by true events and tells the story of explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) during one of his expedition adventures in the wilderness where he was badly wounded by a wild bear and deserted by his own comrades. The film features another one of those epic survival stories that highlight the incredible human resolve and strength of character.

Other winners for the night include Ridley Scott's hit sci-fi film "The Martian," which took home the Best Motion Picture, Comedy award with its lead star Matt Damon winning the Best Actor in a musical or comedy. The prestigious event was hosted by English comedian and actor Ricky Gervais who quipped a lot of crude jokes. All in all, a lot of what you would expect from Hollywood's booziest award show," wrote The Washington Post.
