Whenever fans see a celebrity after an incredible weight loss, they always ask the question, how did they do that? Celebrities would normally just say that motivation and right fitness program is the key to achieving the goal. For some people, it is definitely easier said than done, but not for Valerie Bertinelli.

The Food Network star lost 40lbs in 2007 after going through a strict diet program that had shocked many people after her transformation. However, Bertinelli have since regained 15lbs of weight after she decided to ditch the scale and dieting, Celebrity Health Fitness reported.

Although the TV personality wants to be a little skinnier, she said that she is happy now. Nevertheless, Bertinelli stated that she will always be struggling with her weight.

"It's always going to be a struggle for me for my entire life," she said. "I'm going to have up days and down days."

According to a report by Examiner, Bertinelli kicked a cocaine habit that almost destroyed her many years ago. However, she mentioned in one of her interviews that her drug addiction was easier to overcome than her obsession with food.

"I used food as a crutch, and I abused food in a way that I shouldn't have," the actress said. "And it made me afraid of food for a while, too. But now I embrace it."

Bertinelli broke her foot in 2004 and she cited that as the reason why she regained some of the weight she had lost on diet. She said that, after she injured her foot, she was no longer able to do training sessions and she noticed her weight increased on the scale as days went by.

"I have gained a few pounds since I broke my foot and it started to panic me at a certain point, and I thought, 'No, wait a minute. This is my body. I'm almost 54, I broke my foot. I haven't been able to move,'" she said during an earlier interview with Us Weekly.

Bertinelli admitted that she always thinks about what other people's opinion about how she would look on TV during that time, until she realized that there is really nothing to be ashamed about.

"I started thinking, 'Why do I feel so much shame? Because the cameras are on me? Because the paparazzi can't wait to get a picture of me looking like I've gained a few pounds?' We have to take the shame out of it! It's not fair," she explained.
