New rumors are suggesting that the new MacBook Air will sport a thinner body and a retina display.

The lightest powerful laptop of Apple is due for a huge overhaul. GottaBeMobile reported that MacBook Air 2015 didn't receive an impressive update. Its processors were updated to Intel Haswell chips, its flash storage is faster, it has better graphics and comes with Thunderbolt 2. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the Force Touch trackpad nor the Retina display.

MacBook Air had a very little progress, which disappoints many users who were expecting too much from it, especially that it is a great laptop. The machine is very lightweight and portable. Moreover, it is powerful enough for everyday tasks but it seemed stuck in the past years.

However, do not worry because the upcoming MacBook Air 2016 is promising. According to rumors, the upcoming device will be equipped with the following features:

  1. Thinner Frame - MacBook Air is already very light, which makes it the best laptop for people on the go. But, wait until you see the new one. There are speculations that the MacBook Air 2016 will be sporting a slimmer body. There are also reports claiming that a 15-inch MacBook Air will be available this year. However, there are concerns that the bigger size would affect its portability especially that MacBook Air has always been about small size.
  2. Retina Display - Apple release a 12-inch MacBook last year with a resolution of 2304 by 1440. The rumors are suggesting that upcoming device will be sporting the same display technology with Retina display.
  3. Intel Broadwell or Skylake Processor - The latest model of MacBook Air houses Haswell processor that offers better efficiency over older models but the said processor is already behind the trend. MacBook Air 2016 will be equipped with either Intel's Broadwell or Skylake processor. The latter is Intel's latest processor that includes big upgrades to the chipset. It offers better graphics and faster performance.
  4. USB-C - The 12-inch MacBook Air comes with one USB-C port, which is possibly what will be the trend in the future. The new standard delivers faster speed than USB 3.0 and it is a reversible connector. Many believes that MacBook Pro 2016 will be coming with USB-C, so it is safe to assume that MacBook Air 2016 will also be arriving with the same feature.
  5. Release Date - 2016 MacBook Air will probably be announced in June during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote. Meanwhile, there are also rumors that the popular Apple notebook will be out on March and that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be released three months later, per Master Herald.

New reports also claimed that MacBook Pro 2016 and MacBook Air 2016 will be solar-powered.
