Development is apparently underway for "Grand Theft Auto 6" (GTA 6) and there are speculations that the game would be exclusively out for the upcoming PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Two.

Neurogadget reported that Rockstar is already working on "GTA 6" with the intention that it will be one of the first games for release for the PS5 or the Xbox Two. The news outlet further cited that the next generation consoles are most likely going to be featured with 4K rendering, thus improving the quality and visual appeal of the gameplay and this is something that the upcoming "GTA" would be able to maximize. Moreover, the coming PlayStation could also come with a VR feature and a virtual reality headset that would make "GTA 6" more interactive and realistic to play.

MobiPicker pegged the release of "GTA 6" between 2018 and 2020 and it's roughly the same years the new consoles are speculated for launch. However, the news outlet also pointed out that there has been no official word from the game developers on the release date of "GTA." It's also possible, the game will not push through if Sony decides to abandon VR technology altogether.

But the more important question to ask is: Are there really new generations of consoles coming soon?

Rumors that Sony and Microsoft have started working on their latest consoles have been in the grapevine since fall 2015; without any confirmed announcements, these have mostly been speculations. However, the tech giants have been dropping hints about its development in the last few years.

Microsoft's Phil Spencer stated that the company is already setting their sights on Xbox Two in a previous interview with TechRadar. "I fully expect that you'll see another console from us," Spencer said. "Our best customers are Xbox console customers, and I want to keep those people engaged both on the Xbox One and anything we might do in the future. I'm 100% committed to that."

Spencer also said he's hoping that next Xbox console won't be named the Xbox Two. It's only what industry enthusiasts have been calling the device for now.

Meanwhile, PlayStation executives have been hinting that they were open to the idea of working on the next console as far back as 2014. "'We want to realize this and that and that, but we cannot do [it] with PS4' - if that's the case, there's a good reason to have PS5, so that developers can create their vision," said Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida via a Recode interview.
