At the start of the each year, many people will start a fitness program that involves lots of workouts. However, most of these people will only go as far as two to three months. They forget about their fitness goal and, before they know it, they are back to their unhealthy lifestyle.

Celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak shared that there are many effective ways to lose weight aside from killing yourself at the gym. These are basic activities or habit that you can easily do anytime.

Pasternak celebrity clients include Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga, Megan Fox, Kanye West, Rihanna, Halle Berry, Mandy Moore, Jimmy Fallon, Robert Pattinson, Benjamin Bratt and many more.

The secret is by not expecting much. Weight loss is not an overnight transformation, you will either have to work so hard for it or do the slow yet effective process.

Pasternak shared his own weight loss program for people who do not have much time or motivation to shred it out at the gym.

According to a report by People, Pasternak stated that proper diet should be five meals a day. It includes three regular meals and two snacks. A body should consume a complete dose of fiber and protein every day to keep the energy going.

He said that some people usually mistake thirst for hunger that is why it is important to drink several glasses of water a day.

Walking 10,000 steps per day is equivalent to your average time spent at the gym every day. You don't necessarily have to go for long walks because you can always get in steps while watching TV, while talking on the phone or browsing on your favorite sites using your smartphone.

It would also help if you have someone that can accompany you during long walks so you won't bore yourself while taking those many steps.

This is really helpful, especially if you just hate your time at the gym.

Making sure of getting enough sleep at nighttime will also help anybody with their diet. Get at least seven hours of sleep to properly rest your body, especially if you want to do another 10,000 steps on the following day.

Set aside five minutes of your time every day for a quick exercise. Get a pair of dumbbells and do simple exercises such as squats, shoulder presses, bicep curls and lunges. Five minutes of those is already enough to maintain your muscles.

You do not have to look like a gym freak to become healthy, so stay with the five minute workout!
