Latest rumors on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus involve next-gen Apple smartphones with rear-facing cameras.

MacRumors reports that they have obtained information from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. According to the note, there will be two 5.5-inch versions of the iPhone 7 Plus where one is installed with single iSight rear-facing camera and another with dual rear-facing cameras.

The website explains that the dual-cameras may be possible as Apple acquired LinX Imaging last year, an Israeli company specializing in camera technology. Through the LinX technology, it may be possible for the new smartphones to have high-end dual camera applications, smaller multiple sensors for optimal zooming and lenses with improved light sensitivity and low light capture. Kuo believes that the iPhone 7 Plus will have better zoom function as well.

The Verge points out that the dual camera will rightfully be reserved to the iPhone 7 Plus because it is bigger and more expensive. It also has something to do with supply chain constraints. If the predictions were true, this will be the first time that Apple has offered multiple variants for one phone model.

As to how a phone with dual camera works, the website states that they will work in tandem to produce one high-quality image. The twin cameras will not create two separate photos or be used for 3D image capture.

As to whether Kuo's analysis will be true remains to be seen. Tech Crunch notes that Kuo has had successful predictions when it comes to Apple smartphones. However, the outlet adds that Apple has used the LinX camera module in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Improved versions were also seen in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Additionally, if dual rear-facing cameras will come to iPhone 7 soon, it is not known if it will go with Apple's plan for slimmer iPhones.

According to MacWorld, it is possible that Apple will launch their new line in September 2016 during a press event. The company has been consistent with regards to releasing their phones in the past couple of years.

Apple might also launch two to three phones at once; it could be the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus or the two plus the rumored "iPhone 7 Mini". The website predicts that the battery life has been upgraded and there will be a significant redesign in the phone's external look.

The price for the phones has not yet been announced. However, according to Apple Insider, it may be a little more expensive than usual.
