The launch of "Left 4 Dead 3" is scheduled for 2017. However, the popular PC game could be released exclusively for the Xbox One. There are also unconfirmed reports that four new characters will be introduced in the game's upcoming offering.

Express cited the 2017 release date in its report but gave no other definitive details as to when. It should be noted that the game was last released in 2009, hence news about a follow up game has expectedly left fans excited.

The news outlet also reported that game developer Valve is making "Left 4 Dead 3" their priority. In fact, they have already named the game's four new characters: a woman called Katherine and three men with the name Irvin, a gangster, Keenan, comic book fan, and Garrett Jr., a Kenpo fighter.

"Left 4 Dead 3" is also expected to feature six campaigns from which gamers can choose to play. However, it will still have fan favorites like Crashland, Cliff-Hanger, Early Destination, Impasse, Inquisitor Land and No Mercy.

However, without any official announcement from the developers, fans are doubtful the date and other details have been actually set. A group discussion at the NeoGAF forum for gamers indicate the information is not substantial.

Back in 2014, former Valve developer Minh Le revealed that the company was in the midst of creating the third "Left 4 Dead." Le claimed he has actually seen it although he no longer works on the project, Gamespot reported.

"So I was really excited when I saw that. I was like 'Wow, this looks great.' I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead," he said in the video interview below. "It was just one of those games that really changed the industry because I think at the time there weren't many good co-op games, so it was like, 'Yeah, this is a great co-op game.'"

Youth Health Mag cited that, when the game does gets released, it will likely become an Xbox One exclusive. The assumption was based on the Xbox One site that stated gamers can expect to enjoy a "growing Xbox one library" where they will be able to "experience the greatest games lineup in Xbox history - exclusively on Xbox One."

Turtle Rock Studios originally developed "Left 4 Dead" in 2008 but the company has since split from Valve and proceeded to work on "Evolve." The next year, "Left 4 Dead 2" was released and, since then, speculations about "Left 4 Dead 3" hounded gaming enthusiasts. The developers remain tight-lipped about the game's status.
