The fifth installment of the well-received series "Pirates of the Caribbean" is coming to theatres in a year and a half but we have some info to help you keep your thirst at bay.

Titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," the upcoming fantasy series will star Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, the film's antagonist, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, as well as Brenton Thwaites as Henry Turner. New character Carina Smyth will be played by Kaya Scodelario, Kevin McNally will appear in the film as Joshamee Gibbs and fan favorite Geoffrey Rush will play Captain Barbossa.

Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, written by Jeff Nathanson and with Jerry Bruckheimer again serving as producer, the film was planned to be released in 2015. However, it was postponed to 2016 and then to 2017 because of script and budget problems.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is slated to be released in Disney Digital 3D on May 26, 2017.

Here's a statement from Disney regarding the sudden change of release date, as cited by Korea Portal.

"The move follows the extraordinary success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was the first Star Wars movie to premiere in December," the statement from Disney reads. "In the popular holiday movie-going corridor, it smashed numerous records, including biggest domestic and global debuts of all time as well as the biggest domestic second and third weekends, en route to becoming the highest grossing domestic release of all time with over $861M and the third biggest global release ever with $1.887B."

The known synopsis of "Dead Men Tell No Tales" gives us a premise of Captain Salazar, an old rival of Captain Jack Sparrow, pursuing the latter after he escapes from the Devil's Triangle along with his crew of ghost pirates. Captain Salazar aims to murder every pirate alive at sea and Jack plans to put a stop to this by searching for the legendary Trident of Poseidon that is said to give the wielder complete control over the seas.

Movie website Movie Pilot has some theories about the new character Henry Turner, played by The Giver actor Brendon Thwaites. "I presume that Henry actually turns out to be Will Turner's son on a quest to find his father and the infamous pirate who died before becoming a captain. Hence the name Dead Man Tell No Tales," the post reads.

Pre-production for "Dead Men Tell No Tales" has started before "On Stranger Tides," the fourth installment, was released in early 2011. The team has started principal photography started in Australia from February 2015 to July 2015.
