John Boyega, also known as Finn in Star Wars: The Force awakens, announced the first day of the filming of the sequel of Pacific Rim in his Instagram post. Directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Marvel's Daredevil series) Pacific Rim: Maelstrom will be up gain for a box office hit in its expected release on February 23, 2018.

While most people think that aliens came from the outer space, the first Pacific Rim movie points out a different view on aliens. Director Guillermo del Toro (Mimic, Hellboy, Blade II) successfully alter the concept of outer space and brings the experience into the depth of the Pacific Ocean.

As war begun between humans and monstrous alien creatures from the sea, a former pilot Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and trainee Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), paired up to drive an obsolete gigantic metal machine in a desperate fight to save the world from alien apocalypse.

The global success of its first film released in 2013 earned worldwide total of $411 million and leaves an earmark in the anticipation for an exciting sequel. According to Morning Ledger, many believe that Boyega's addition to the cast of the sequel will absolutely work wonders.

Based on the concept of del Toro created with the original screen writer Travis Beacham and script by Derek Connolly, Boyega will portray as the son of Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba), who died in the first film.

As per Collider, the plot of the story is yet unknown, but del Toro has been talking about possible treatments since the day before the release of the first film in theaters. And since the sequel involves Stacker's son, the origin of the story will not be of that of Kaiju.

Despite of the intense excitement for the sequel, Charlie Hunnam and Raleigh Becket will not return in Pacific Rim 2. Original director Guillermo del Toro will not be directing the movie. Nevertheless, del Toro will produce the film together with Thomas Tull, May Parent, Jon Jashni and the main actor of the film John Boyega himself.
