Following the footsteps of its archrivals, the rumors mills have churned out another speculated feature for Samsung Galaxy S8 where Samsung could ditch headphone port in its upcoming flagship smartphone.

Apple got rid of the 3.5 mm headphone port in its latest iPhone 7, and similarly Motorola released MotoMods for its flagship smartphone. As per a report published in SamMobile, the Galaxy S8 will come without a 3.5 mm port, although alternatives like wireless headphones and adapters will be available.

The 3.5 mm headphone port has been traditionally the same in every smartphone and Apple needed a change it the outlay and hence to create more space for battery, speakers, and other components.

Apple decided to rule out the port in place of an intuitive wireless pod, and rumors has it that Samsung will follow the same footsteps to get more out of the available space.

SamMobile quoted the release date for "port-less" Samsung Galaxy S8 on February 27, 2017 at the Mobile World trade show which has ignited the anxiousness in people. Engadget also reported about the possibility of the delay for the launch. However, no official confirmation is out yet.

Apple launched the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September 2016 and it got millions of pre-orders and orders. However, customers have been turned off by the new iPhone models, particularly because of the absence of the headphone port. The uproar escalated when Apple introduced wireless pod worth around USD 160, which are prone to fall off as there is no wire to keep it intact.

Getting rid of headphone port is not the only hot topic when it comes to Samsung Galaxy S8, PCMag stated the other features that will boost sales. The Samsung Galaxy S8 could have its own digital voice-based assistant. The Samsung Galaxy S8 prices are not available, however.

According to sources, Google Pixel is a potential hindrance for the sales of Samsung Galaxy S8. Pixel is available in two variants, and moreover, it comes with 3.5 mm ports.

Pixel also has unlimited photo storage, which is somewhat part of the necessary pre-requisites when it comes to buying high-end smartphones. Apple iPhone 7 has proven as another potentially strong competitor and moreover with the launch of Apple iPhone 8, the sales would significantly shoot up.

With the recent developments on phasing out headphone ports, it has become the center of attraction for many manufacturers who are now making attempts to go wireless while using headphones and charging. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will unfold in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress, where most of Samsung's flagship smartphones debuted.
