Nvidia Driver-less Car Is Not A Game But Reality In California

Although Nvidia is renowned for Computer graphics cards, In last few years the company has focused a lot on artificial intelligence - with special emphasis on autonomous driving. In 2015, at the Consumer Electronics Show, the company announced its first computer vision system tailor-made for self-driving. Later, they came up with a more advanced version of it - Drive PX2. Now, the company has launched its first Self-Driving Car.

On December 8^th, California Department of Motor Vehicles has granted a permit to Nvidia to start testing self-driving vehicle technology on the public roads across the state of California. With that permission, Nvidia enters the prestigious club of autonomous vehicle testers of California that includes Google, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Tesla, GM and many start-up companies like Faraday Future, NextEV and more. Elated after receiving the permission, Nvidia didn't waste any time in sending cars to the roads. Presence of Nvidia cars were found in Bay Area on 8^th morning.

Though Nvidia is not the first company to make self-driving cars but they have certainly pushed the limit to a newer height with recent launch. Also, Nvidia's partnership with Chinese web giant Baidu to manufacture a platform for semiautomatic cars is a big achievement in their self-driving car-manufacturing portfolio. Barring that, Nvidia also manufactured test cars. And importantly, during this summer, at Roborace - a self-driving race car competition - many cars have been used associating with the features of Drive PX2. Undoubtedly, it is one of the best achievements in the Nvidia's car manufacturing history.

Although California is known for autonomous testing but in recent years, the status has taken a beat. Many other states in USA are planning to don the crown of generating business in such way. On 9^th of December, the state of Michigan passed a bill which will help the process of automatic testing of cars in future. This bill will also allow the manufacturers to sell self-driving vehicles or even establish an Uber like taxi network..

Acknowledging the new challenges, California is still the best place to do test runs. The state is known for granting several licenses to car manufacturing companies when it's come to self-driving cars.
