Apple to unveil Flexible Curved OLED Display in iPhone 8: Instructs LG Display to Produce More Units

Technology is ever-changing with new iterations to older smartphones that wow customers and draw even more sales. First, it was the removal of 3.5mm Jack which made the news and now it's the OLED or Curved Display which has stuck in limbo after world tech giants are incorporating the new tech in their flagship models. The latest to add in the queue to receive Curved OLED Display is the upcoming iPhone 8 expected to release sometime in September 2017.

Rumor has it that Apple has instructed LG Display - OLED Display Manufacturer, to produce OLED Displays for its upcoming iPhone 8. The latest top-end iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are most advanced iPhone ever built yet delicate and hence, incorporating an OLED screen might do good or bad depending on the customer's perspective, Hot Hardware reported. Furthermore, the upcoming iPhone 8 will have touch-sensitive technology which has grown to be most sophisticated than its predecessors.

According to Tech Times, Tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Apple have tapped LG Displays to churn out Curved OLED Displays for their upcoming smartphones. Concerning with the upcoming iPhone, sources suggest that Apple might unveil iPhone 7S in 2017 and the new iPhone 8 in 2018, however, the later will include an OLED Display. There is no confirmation on which iteration will release in 2017.

In prototypes, LG Display has produced some jaw-dropping Curved Displays such as Display that can be rolled like a newspaper. Although the upcoming iPhone will not get rolled, it will have folding capabilities. The gradient on how much it will fold is not available yet. LG Display is sought to supply OLED Displays for the upcoming iPhone by 2018.

OLED Displays are the new hot topic to discuss. There are many reports on Apple iPhone 8 to have OLED display and similar, Microsoft will unveil its Surface Phone with OLED display and Google will launch its latest Google Pixel which the OLED display as well.
