Seven 'healthy' foods that aren't actually that healthy Getting into a lean and slim body is one of the most difficult tasks. With proper work-out and nutrients regime, anyone can get into the desired shape. But with misinformation at every nook and corner, people must be extremely careful on what to eat and what not to. Here is an explicit list of Seven "Healthy" foods that aren't healthy at all.

1. Bananas - Often considered as the safest fruit to eat, Fox News states that Bananas are sweet and has a very high glycemic index of 62. To put things into perspective, a shortbread cookie has a glycemic index of 64. The glycemic index is indicators for the velocity of sugars to the blood stream. The high glycemic index can lead to pancreatic fatigue, obesity, and even diabetes. However, it can be fixed by eating Bananas with other food with high protein and good fat.

2. Sports Drinks - Sports Drinks have high fructose corn syrup concentration. HFCS is dangerous and so are the artificial sweeteners that are included in Sports Drinks that gives sudden push of adrenaline when drunk. It also contains sugar and alternatives along with food coloring which is not advisable in high amount.

3. Dried Fruit - As per a report published by Fix.com, Dried Fruit is similar to Bananas in terms of the glycemic index. Again while eating non-organic dried fruit, they are rich in chemicals and pesticides which can interrupt with bodily functions. Exposure to the harmful chemical is not a good option, though. Dried Fruit which is organic is safe to consume along with high protein and good fat foods.

4. Gluten-Free Products - Gluten-free products are hyped so much that it will not simmer soon. Gluten-Free Product although seems a good alternative compared to gluten products, but actually the ingredients used are sugar, chemicals which can be harmful in terms of contamination by chemical and high glycemic level by sugars. It also affects bodily functions like absorption, digestion, etc. Gluten-Free Products can be replaced by Paleo or Whole food snacks which are healthy.

5. Protein Bars - Protein Bars are for those who are gym-freak and who are extremely conscious of their body. The ingredients in the Protein Bars were investigated and the conclusion drawn was that it contains four different types of sugar sweeteners. With more sweeteners, the glycemic index rises exponentially leading to exposure to diseases due to high sugar content.

6. Trail Mix - Trail Mix have loads of adverse ingredients like soy, high-fructose corn syrup and added preservatives. Trail Mix must be consumed in small quantities although refraining from Trail Mix will be a better alternative.

7. Muffins - Sugar content in Muffins is in excess. Muffins are stuffed with plenty of calories that can hit the waistline badly. A muffin from Costco has over 700 calories which although is not even near to the daily calories intake requirement, but with loads of sugar, it can have adverse even on Pancreas and can even cause Diabetes in the long run.

Others "Healthy" foods that are not actually healthy as mentioned in the Muscles & Fitness are Cereal, Skim or Low Fat Milk, Synthetic Oils, Vegetable Oils, Wheat Bread, Most Yogurt, All Fat-Free products, to name a few.
