This year could have been a better year for Samsung if not for the Samsung Note 7 fiasco. Nonetheless, 2016 has been a mixed year with hits and flops.

Samsung's flagship product Galaxy S7 was a big hit, along with the economical "J" Series smartphones. However, the biggest flop for Samsung is Galaxy Note 7 released in August 2016.

However, Samsung is planning the following series of big launches in 2018:

Samsung S8: This will be the next flagship product for the company. Samsung showcases the power-packed product by embedding highly efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 SoC. As per Techradar, the phone boasts with 5.5-inch AMOLED screen and 4K display with 806 ppi. Also, it is powered by  6GB RAM and captures crisp images with 30 MP rear camera. The phone is expected to release in MBC 2017 to be held in February 2017 in Barcelona.

Galaxy Note 8: Samsung wants to ditch the ghost of Note 7 behind by taking a challenge of launching Galaxy Note 8. The phone is featured to be a dual display with Artificial Intelligence Voice Assistant and S-Pen. Note 8 to be powered by 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, which is further expandable with Micro SD card. Samsung doesn't want to make the mistake of making batteries on its own and planning to source them through LG.

Galaxy A Series: Samsung is expected to release new A-Series phones at CES 2017 in next January with three models. As reported in International Business Times, the models vary in display size, A3: 4.7-inch, A5: 5.2-Inch, and A7: 5.7-Inch.

Galaxy Gear VR2 & Gear VR3: The next generation of VR headsets is set to arrive in 2017. The base model is taken out a leaf from Oculus Rift. But, the new designs are to adopt the combined technology of Microsoft Hololens and Magic Leap Technologies, as confirmed by Samsung Electronics Vice-President Dr. Sung-Hoon.

Samsung S4 Watch: Samsung soared to fame in wearable technology with the launch of Gear S2. But, it's wearable tech lost the steam after bulkier Gear S3 launch. The company wants to rewrite the past with the introduction of more slim & efficient Gear S4 through incorporation of Exynos 7 Dual 7270 processor. Gear S4 is expected to release in October 2017.

Galaxy X foldable phone: Rumors are rife about the new foldable smartphone from Samsung. The company known for innovations wants to turn the wheel backward with the introduction of foldable smartphones. Although the design in the nascent stage, we can expect the phone to be released in late 2017 or early 2018.

Apart from the above, Samsung also plans to release a new series of "J" Series phones and QLED TV in CES 2017.
