The Day was 11th March 2011, a high magnitude on Richter scale was recorded and soon Tsunami followed it and struck Japan and other neighboring Asian countries with sheer and enormous force.

Although the Tsunami had a massive impact on Japan and its citizens, the most disastrous effect was on Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant which was reported to have leaked dangerous substances into the Pacific Ocean killing millions of fishes and other aquatic beings. What continues even today when a report was released that the effects have reached the United States.

Owned by Tokyo Electric Company (TEPCO), the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant has been in operation for two decades and it was only it March 20111, it was struck by an earthquake and a tsunami which has caused severe environmental damage to not only aquatic beings but people living in the country.

A recent research conducted by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts has claimed that the radioactive waste dumped by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant which is estimated to be 300 tons per day, has reached the coast of the United States. The research discovered the high amount of Caesium 134 on the shores of Tillamook Bay in Oregon and other elements that were detected was Strontium. After the incident took place, the Government of Japan releases a statement stating that the effects of the leak are not immediate, however, recent reports confirm that the Fukushima Region has encountered exponential growth in death rates by cancer.

Although the Oceans are equipped with many organisms that eat off contaminated elements as a part of their process, Bioaccumulation might occur in the Pacific Oceans at American side of the coast which means the ability of absorption of chemicals which has spiked at higher rates than the rate of its flush out.

The IBTimes has propounded an extract of research made by the WHOI according to which the study has found out that marine creatures might be in danger after being exposed to radioactive water that can result in severe health hazards.

Although the recently detected traces of radioactive elements are low which is approximately 40 times lower than the amount prescribed by America for drinking water. When compared to American Coast, the Pacific Ocean alongside Japan has detected with 10 million times more traces of Cesium 134 at its peak.
