Once a reigning king of the smartphone kingdom the iPhone is facing tough challenges to maintain its legacy. With archrival Samsung constantly inching closer to the prestigious throne, Apple has to address iphone7's debacle sooner than later.

According to Mirror, iPhone fans are eagerly awaiting the launch of iPhone 8. The last Apple phone only featured slight upgrades from its older versions. 2017 coincidentally is also the year that marks a decade of launching the iconic iPhone in its first iteration. Spearheaded by Steve Jobs Apple announced its first phone on January 9, 2007 which was later released on June 29 the same year.

Iphone1 was an instant hit and skyrocketed Apple as the numero uno phone manufacturer in the premium smartphone category. Following versions firmly cemented Apple's position right at the top however the disappointing sales of iPhone7 has prompted the company to come out all guns blazing with its next.

Apple has planned a number of groundbreaking features for the reportedly All glass waterproof- iPhone 8, With features like curved Oled display, absence of a home button, iris scanner, wireless charging, vertically arranged iSight module for the dual camera lens. The new phone is speculated to be available in three different size variants (existing 4.7 and 5.5 inches apart from a new and more comfortable 5 inches model).

The reason for these changes according to Forbes is the disappointing outcome of iPhone 7's performance which has played spoiler in Apple's plans. iPhone7 production is already cut short by almost ten percent in the first quarter of 2017 due to lesser than expected sales.

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus both failed to meet the huge expectations . Fans want every new version of iPhone to beat the previous generation on feature and innovation. Unfortunately the iphone7 features were rumored to be pro-manufacturers rather than the end user (omission of the 3.5 mm jack is a clear give away).

As the case with all Apple products, The IPhone 8 will not be easy on the pocket but reportedly it will not be more than the iPhone 7 launch price. Despite the recent setback Apple remains one of the major players in the smartphone arena and with the next iPhone it will be eyeing the top spot once again.
