Grandparents were the one who took care and babysits their grandchildren when parents are not around. But a new study shows that they tend to live longer compared to other seniors who didn't find it easy.

According to The Times, scientist found out that grandparents after looking their grandchildren, even if it is very often they could extend their life up to three years. Caregiving have seen a possibility to give longer life and this could happen to anyone even it is not blood-related

The specialist has seen this possibility to elder people that give purpose to leave physically and mentally active in their lives. Doctoral student in the department of psychology at the University of Basel in Switzerland and a lead author, Sonja Hilbrand said that grandparents who are not able to mingle with grandchildren can affect their health.

According to Daily Mail, researchers conducted a study for the grandparents who babysit their grandchildren occasionally but did not include those who primarily took over the responsibility of children. The result has shown half of the grandparents who watch the kids for a while were still alive ten years right after the interview.

Half of senior citizens who doesn't have kids but still supported their neighbors and friends lived for seven years while others who did not helped have last only 4 years. However, other participants who did not help to watch the kids died within five years when the study starts.

An associate professor at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain, Bruno Arpino, who doesn't involve in the study stated that caregivers have a purpose because they care for the others and for the society. He also added that caregiving isn't responsibility but an activity that keep them healthy.

There are previous studies recommend that caregiving may enhance the cognitive functioning, physical and mental health. It is very important that individuals should know how to help in different ways because what you sow, is what you reap.
