Samsung just unveiled its latest QLED TV series on annual CES in Las Vegas. There are three models in the series: Q9, Q8 and Q7. As this TVs are advanced generation of Quantum Dot technology, Samsung decided to call them QLED TVs.

People are still confused about OLED, HDR and 4K and Samsung announced QLED series to make choice tougher. Samsung says that QLED TV represents its best achievement in image quality and viewing experience, as written in The Verge. Samsung is claiming that this QLED TVs are better than OLED TVs.

One of the main upgrade includes brightness. 2016's SUHD TVs reach a peak brightness up to 1,000 while brand new QLED TVs reach between 1,500 and 2,000 nits.

Another improvement is color reproduction. Samsung claims that QLED sets are World's first which are capable to handle DCI-P3 accurately and are capable of reproducing 100 percent color volume. Which means that they can express all colors at any level of brightness.

Samsung says QLED TVs are using a new metal material along with the quantum dot nanocrystals which makes subtlest differences visible. No all the thing is improved in this QLED series, they still require backlighting and quantum dot nanocrystals don't self-emit light like OLED TVs.

Q9 is flat while the Q8 is curved, as confirmed with Forbes. Samsung QLED TVs are powered by Tizen and features almost the same user interface as last year's release. All new sports mode is added and music section is expanded.

Samsung has not announced release date and price of this brand new QLED series. There is a possibility that these TVs will be released by spring of this year. However, price cannot be estimated.

Other TVs to watch out for this CES are LG Signature OLED TV W, Sony Bravia OLED A1, Panasonic TX-65EZ1002B.
