A recent study has come up with the report that black patients are more often suffered from asthmatic conditions and that too at a worse condition. The study was led by researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine.

According to the UIC News Centre, as per the study, it has been discovered that African Americans are less responsive to the treatments of asthma and they are more likely to die from it. This is because; the black patients have an airway inflammation which is of a unique type as compared to patients from other regions.

People have different kinds of airway inflammation but it was very unclear till now in white as well as black patients. The airway inflammation is responsible for the response to the treatment of asthma.

Science Daily says that black men and women and three times more likely to be found hospitalized or dying from Asthma. The burden is quite huge if we also include the issues such as access to health cares and exposures to various environment conditions.

More than 1000 sputum samples were tested by the researchers over an age of 12 for the patients. The patients did not smoke for more than a year and therefore they had affable determined asthma. These samples were tested for the participation of eosinophils.

Out of the total samples, 26 percent were from the patients considered as African American. The results of the research showed that the black patients were more expected to flaunt eosinophilic airway inflammation than the white patients. These patients were also given doses of asthma medication such as inhaled corticosteroids but still the results were same.

Black patients with eosinophilic airway inflammation will not get any advantage from asthma medications but some other therapies are needed to be deliberated and researched. The bad news is that almost all the black patients have these kinds of airway inflammations, which is too worse for the condition of asthma.
