The rate of heart attack and other cardiovascular death tend to reach its peak all around the world in the month of January. Many researchers and scientists has been in search of the reason for such high rate of heart attacks in the month of January. Initially the researchers thought that, it was due to the increase in cold in the month of January, that leads to a higher rate of heart attack during the month.

The Independent has reported a study conducted by the researchers of the University of Southern California. The researchers did a closer look at the deaths happened in Los Angeles, between the year 1985 to 1996, due to heart attack.

The reason for choosing Los Angeles is due to the city's constant climate throughout the year. And the researchers observed that, there is a dramatic increase in the death rate due to heart attack in the month of January. The death certificate of the people with heart attack from different locations in U.S between the year 2005 to 2008, also proves the rise in the rate of heart attack in the month of January.

The information from hindustantimes says that, the deficiency of vitamin D can lead to heart attack. Also, there is a chance of blood viscosity and a fall in the body temperature in the month of January, which could lead to heart attack.

In January the rate of air pollution is very high in large cities, which also means the rate of Nitrogen dioxide level will also be high in the air. The inhalation of such pollutants can make the blood in the arteries clot.

The climate of January is winter and the chance of the increase in the rate of infections is high in winter. The infections spread flu and the flu virus lead to artery blockage, which leads to heart attack. Not having proper sleep also increases the risk of heart attack in people.
