NHS Underfunded, under-Doctored and Overstretched, Royal College of Physicians Warns of Putting Lives at Risk

NHS is combating the acute shortage of physicians, nurses, and social care funding; and longer A&E waiting times. Labors will stage a day-long debate in the Commons on an action plan to rescue NHS from the current crisis and will demand a commitment to a 4-hour waiting time in A&E.

Royal College of Physicians (RCP) representing 33,000 doctors, has expressed its deep concerns over the crisis on NHS in a few words: "underfunded, under-doctored and overstretched". The lives of people are at risk.

Patients load has become double and 18,435 on a trolley for more than 12 hours just waited for a hospital bad. The elderly patients who are above 70 years of age have increased three times in number in the past t two years adding to the pressure on Government to boost cash for social care, Mirror reported.

RCP has sent a letter to the PM telling her that patients number has increased beyond the measure set up especially when the majority of them elderly patients who have more complex conditions and need more care.

The challenges facing the health care system are predicted to accelerate as recently hardly a day passes by without new problems popping their heads. The letter mentions that 2017 should not be a year where big issues are ducked.

NHS is struggling with its worst ever winter season crisis. A Department of Health spokesperson was speaking to Sky News when he said that NHS is facing a serious increase in demand because of aging population increase which means that a more spacious and safer healthcare system is needed without any delay, News Sky reported.

The PM's spokeswoman said that the Government has made a five-year plan in which it will deliver all that NHS has requested. She also added that it is obvious that Government has taken an action and for this winter season NHS has 1,600 more doctors and 3,000 more nurses that the past year.
