Alphabet, which is now the parent company of Google, way back in 2014 aimed high at creating solar drones after it acquired Titan Aerospace which Alphabet was planning to use in stabilizing the network in far off and remote areas of Earth. Exactly after two years it now appears to be too high a project for the tech giant to pursue it for a long run. From the media resources, it is certain now that Alphabet has shelved the bombastic solar drone project.

The report claimed that Alphabet will no longer continue the exploration of Drones powered by solar energy as the possible alternative for bettering the network in remote areas. However, it is to be kept in mind that only the project has been shelved not the idea of creating high altitude Drones for better internet connectivity in cut off rural areas.

All these efforts were aimed at increasing the rural connectivity by creating drones that would run on Solar power and could stay for longer time flying in the air, a report published in The Verge explains.

The reports in circulation have also revealed a stunning fact about the project. It said the project was shelved actually a year before. It was partly because of the financial constriction imposed by the Alphabet on this extremely expensive project.

It is a big hold-up for already dwindling company, X, which is the brain behind the Solar Drone project. The X has labeled Ruth Porat, the CFO of the Alphabet, as one of the main reasons which lead to the dramatic closure of one of the bravest project in the technological history, a report published in Business Insider claims.

The aim of the project, however, will not be compromised in wake of the growing economic instability but other technological advancements are already on cards to establish a strong internet connection in relatively remote areas of the present day world.
