Tea and Coffee are the only beverages, most consumed after water. A project funded by Lipton 50 years ago in UC valley gave a new hope for the Tea enthusiast to meet the ever-growing demand for Tea around the world.

In 1967, Lipton has funded a project by Lipton Company for the promotion of Tea in the valley has ended in 1970's. Most of the Tea plans were cut and, luckily, some Tea plants were preserved, probably for landscaping purpose, as per ABC. But, fortunately, these tea plants were surviving and thriving even after 50 years.

This shocking fact came to light when Global Tea Initiative researchers contacted UC Kearney Agricultural Center in Parlier about the old research. One more interesting thing, no one really cared about those plantations, which grew and sustained on their own without nurturing.

"Well, for the most part, we all think it's a beautiful hedge," Jeff Dahlberg with the research group said. "To be honest with you, I don't think anyone really thought too much about these plants.". Researchers are now taking samples and cuttings from these plants and try to build a new Tea project in a one-acre plot in the same valley.

The news came to the delight of researchers who are finding ways to increase the Tea supplies to meet the steadily rising tea demand. Myanmar, the erstwhile Burma, tops the list of the major suppliers of Tea around the world. India and Sri Lanka come second and third.

Whether it is black, green, herbal or oolong, it doesn't matter. Tea consumption is on the rise and more population is getting addicted to Tea due to its healthy habits and refreshing reasons. Tea contains antioxidants and protect us from aging. It also contains less caffeine than Coffee. Moreover, herbal tea has 50% less caffeine than that found in normally processed tea, report Today.

Further, Tea reduces the risk of heart attack, says Anna Ardine, clinical nutrition manager at Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, citing a stronger evidence for this fact. Besides this, Tea can also cure Cancer, improve digestive system and boost the immune system
