Blue Monday was another most talked about day in this year just a few days after Friday, January 13, that took the superstitious people into a spin. . According to some latest scoop, Monday, December 16, 2017 was believed to be the most depressing year for the Britons.

Third Monday of January is believed to be the gloomiest day of the year since people get back to work after enjoying the holidays and the summer looks quite far.  But do the Monday Blues have any scientific significance? Well, apparently there is no such scientific explanations for it. In fact, many people wonder if the day is the most depressing day of the year. The answer, it is not.

According to USA Today, a researcher, Dr. Cliff Arnal from Cardiff University, had come up with a certain formula that showed that the third Monday of January each year is the most depressing day. Interestingly, Dr. Cliff came up with an equation and the equation takes into account factors such as, weather, debt, time since failing to fulfil new year resolutions and more.

As per NBC News, Dr. Arnal even went ahead to say Monday Blue, 2017, might be the bluest Monday ever stressing on factors such as the Brexit and Donald Trump winning the elections. Now, that's an interesting observation, it seems! He further stated that the deaths of several celebrities aged 50 to 60 years have even reminded people of their own death and this might be the reason for the depression.

Not everyone agrees with Dr, Arnal's calculations. According to Dr. Dean Burnett, a doctor of Neuroscience has said that depression doesn't work in this way and the concept of Blue Monday is extremely gibberish. On a happy note as per Dr Arnal, the happiest day of the year falls in mid- June, just six months away.
