The Internet has become the soul and spirit of modern life. This is the greatest invention of today without which worldly affairs cannot move ahead. From country administration to socializing with friends is not possible without the internet. Imagine if the internet is disconnected for a day or few hours? The dire effects can cause losses at many different levels.

Food supplies to the stores can be the most visible effect of internet absence. Medicines and drugs supply and order at the pharmacies would cause trouble to patients. In the hospitals, the doctors and their helpers will not be able to access to instant data and information they need to treat many complicated cases, according to Thrillist.

Fresh news and events remain frozen in their birth places and the world will not know about them until they are old. Law and order in the country will experience the worst situation ever in the history once the internet is disconnected. Crime rate will sharply rise and control the situation will be out of reach. The devastating effects can spread far and wide if the internet is not restored instantly.

But internet disconnection is not all about chaos and losses. Scott Borg at the United States Cyber Consequences Unit says that disconnection to the internet might even increase productivity. This actually was observed at a company when their system developed error and all the computers shut down. The employees did all the paper work that normally was postponed. The business boosted, reports BBC.

Short tern internet outage would not cause as much loss as a long term internet absence would cause. Planes can fly to their destinations and trains can reach the station on time. A longer outage can affect logistics and companies depending heavily on the internet must have a plan in place. But there has been no news about that from anyone yet!
