‘Naruto Shippuden’ Episode 493 Recap: Shikamaru Arc Concludes; Episode 494 Spoilers: Big Day for Naruto-Hinata, Up Next!

"Naruto Shippuden" episode 493 is the last episode in the Shikamaru arc. Shikamaru and his team, with the help of Temari, Choji and Ino, manage to rescue Sai and defeat Gengo. In "Naruto Shippuden" episode 494, Konoha village prepares for the big event in which Naruto and Hinata tie the knot.

Games&Anime reports that Temari, Ino, and Choji rush to the Land of Silence to aid Shikamaru and his team. While Shikamaru goes off to search for the mastermind Gengo, the newly arrived trio will face off against the brainwashed Konoha shinobis, Sai, Soku, and Ro.

In the ensuing battle, Ino takes on Sai, Temari squares off against Soku, and Choji fights Ro. Unbeknownst to Shikamaru, Gengo laid a trap for him using a room wherein the tactician from the Hidden Leaf Village will not be able to use his special jutsu.

Thinking he got Shikamaru in a bind, Gengo explains his reason why he had set up shop in the Land of Silence. Gengo also divulged his sinister plan to control the Hidden Leaf Village in the same way he manipulated the people in the Land of Silence.

Meanwhile, Ino, Temari, and Choji manage to defeat Sai, Soku and Ro and were released from Gengo's spell. Fearing that Shikamaru has been put in the same spell they've been under, they rushed to rescue Shikamaru only to find out that their leader has not only withstood Gengo's psychological attack, but Shikamaru has already forced a confession out of him. Shikamaru, Soku, and Ro attacked Gengo simultaneously and defeated him soundly.

With their mission completed, the 6 shonibis went back to Konoha to play out the final scenes in which Shikamaru shyly asks Temari out on a date and Sai complementing the beauty and kindness of Ino. Naruto Shippuden episode 493 was aired last Feb. 2, 2017, and has a title of "Shikamaru's Story, A Cloud Drifting in the Silent Dark, Part 5: Dawn."

In "Naruto Shippuden" episode 494, the Hidden Leaf Village prepares for the upcoming wedding of Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuuga.
