After reports of WhatsApp working on features such as replies, mute and status change notifications, there are news about a new leak. According to the latest tweet by WABetaInfo, the app is planning to one major update on its Status tab.

Interestingly, Facebook seemed to have a huge liking for the Snapchat stories feature. Earlier Instagram took over the 24 hour photo or video story option from Snapchat. Now, Facebook owned messaging platform WhatsApp is all set to roll out the feature.

According to Daily Mail Online, WhatsApp would allow users to share images with text captions and doodles. This experimental feature is named as Status. It would come as a separate tab between Chat and Calls tab. However, just like Snapchat, it would disappear in 24 hours.

When WhatsApp was new users really paid attention to other's status updates. However, with time most people have lost interest in the status option. But this isn't the case with Instagram and Snapchat Stories, where users pay attention.

Understanding the growing trend of Stories, WhatsApp has been working on the Snapchat type feature for some time now. However, it is too early for users to be happy since the new feature would be available on iOS platform only. The iOS device users would be able to upload photos and videos as status messages.

Just like Snapchat, it would be available for a 24 hours only and would disappear after that. WABetaInfo has recently shared a tweet that it claims to be a screenshot of the latest feature on iOS. As per their Twitter post, the Story feature has been updated in WhatsApp Beta on iOS 2.17.4+ BGR reported. It would also come with its own privacy setting.

Since the feature has already made it to WhatsApp beta version, users can expect it on the main version soon enough. However, there has been no information as when it might be available for Android users.
