Planet Nine still remains a mystery as of now. Considered by some as the Unseen planet, the universe’s object is said to have no name yet since its existence has not yet been proven. Yet, astrophysicists and some scientists claim that one asteroid was separated into two by crashing into a large massed object which is believed to be the Planet Nine.

According to The Sun, some scientists claim that the ice planet is said to tilt our orbit due to its massive size which is said to be 20 times larger than Earth. Meanwhile, as NASA’s present day telescopes couldn’t see it, the behavior of two asteroids was assessed that it proves the Planet Nine’s existence.

Furthermore, it was noted that back in 2000, astronomers had discovered that there are more things orbiting around the Sun that could be discovered after the farthest planet, Neptune. In which it was noted that astronomers had found 21 “extreme trans-Neptunian objects (ETNO.)”

Thus, Universe Today reported that two asteroids behaving oddly were mentioned to be 2004 VN112 and 2013 RF98. It was also identified that Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) collaborated with the Complutense University of Madrid to study both. The two asteroids were then seen using the Gran Telescopio CANARIAS (GTC) in the Canary Islands and are considered 2 of the ETNOs.

Yet, researchers said that 2004 VN112 and 2013 RF98 were once just a binary asteroid but seemed to be separated. What’s more is that the separation was said to be caused by something that has a large mass which could be the Planet Nine. Specifically, between 10 and 20 Earth masses was the mentioned mass. Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) astrophysicist, Julia de León said that the two asteroids have similar spectral gradients which had been observed.

Thus, it was found that the 2004 VN112 and 2013 RF98 suggest a common physical origin. “We are proposing the possibility that they were previously a binary asteroid which became unbound during an encounter with a more massive object” she added.

After performing thousands of numerical simulations, results had shown that the Planet Nine seemed to move the two asteroids for around 10 million years ago as reported. But, it was still hoped that the study would help to clarify Planet Nine’s existence.
