Diabetes has been a common case for old and middle-aged men or women. Some diabetic cases also occur in children at a young age. Fortunately, a study had shed some light on how a person could potentially reverse their diabetes. While more fasting research is needed for human trials there are great anti-diabetes supplements such as Berberine to help overcome diabetes.

According to ARS Technica, a study that shows that a fasting diet could reverse diabetes was published in Cell was done by the University Of Southern California. The study then stated that the fasting diet process could possibly regenerate pancreatic cells to restore insulin in type 1 diabetes patients. Since results in mice had reversed both type 1 and 2 diabetes.

For four days, researchers then had the mice to undergo low-calorie, low-protein, low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet. The first day had the mice only to eat 50 percent of their calorie intake, while only 10 percent on the second, third and fourth day. The next 10 days. The mice were then allowed to eat normal regaining their lost weight as well. Afterward, it was then back to the four-day fasting. This cycle then is identified to be done for three times.

Results then found out that mice who has type I diabetes had their pancreatic beta cells to be boosted. Thus insulin is regenerated. Meanwhile, mice with type 2 diabetes had restored insulin production and reduced insulin resistance.

"Our conclusion is that by pushing the mice into an extreme state and then bringing them back--by starving them and then feeding them again--the cells in the pancreas are triggered to use some kind of developmental reprogramming that rebuilds the part of the organ that's no longer functioning," says senior author Valter Longo of the University of Southern California School of Gerontology and also Director of the USC Longevity Institute per Eureka Alert.

Yet amid the study, it was advised that people shouldn’t follow the method first since it needs further investigation. Especially, the fact wherein would it be effective in humans as it does to the mice. Longo then said that people should seek a doctor first before trying this yet the method. It was also warned that this diet could result or trigger dangerous complications in humans.
