Breast cancer is tied to many causing factors, such as age, family history, genetics, and gender, which are uncontrollable. But practicing a healthy diet and avoiding unhealthy foods and lifestyles can help fight even any kind of cancer.

According to Medical News Today, cancer arises in different ways and responds better in particular therapies and certain foods. The following lists of foods are a specific diet that could prevent the development of breast cancer.

A previous study found that maintaining a diet containing primarily plants could reduce the risk of breast cancer by 15 percent. The Ida & Joseph Friend Cancer Center suggests that eight to 10 plates of fruits and vegetables must be consumed each day. That includes dark, green, leafy vegetables, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, carrots, broccoli, kale, onions, citrus fruit, apples, pears, peaches and the strawberries. These are believed to interfere with the cancer growth.

Eating a significant amount of fiber-rich legumes like lentils can help the digestive system shed off body wastes. These foods can also help in reducing the risk of developing breast cancer through inducing the elimination of estrogen from the body. It’s suggested to consume at least 30 to 45 grams of fiber daily.

Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats also function in reducing the risk of breast cancer. These are dubbed as the "good fats" and they are found in olive oil, avocados, seeds, and nuts. Furthermore, omega-3 fatty acids that are believed to reduce inflammation can lessen the risk of breast cancer. This healthy fat is found in cold-water fish such as salmon and herring.

Lastly, soy that is found in foods such as tofu, tempeh, edamame, soy milk and soy nuts can also reduce the risk of breast cancer. It’s maybe because these foods are rich in protein, healthy fat, vitamins and minerals that can suppress breast tumors.

Meanwhile, different studies are claiming that alcohol, red meat, trans fats and sugar can induce the development of breast cancer. Therefore, foods containing these elements must be avoided or taken only in small amounts.
