After his debut in the season premiere got a warm reception from both critics and fans, Tyler Hoechlin dons the cape of Superman again in the Season 2 finale of "Supergirl." While there are no concrete details yet, this gives fans of the TV series something to be excited about.

For those who do not know yet, Season 2 of "Supergirl" started when Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) dropped by at National City to help his cousin Kara (Melissa Benoist) deal with a defective LexCorp spaceraft. He stayed on for another episode before heading back to Metropolis with the knowledge that Supergirl can handle things by herself.

Since he last appeared, the show's executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg, expressed his desire to bring Hoechlin back. E News reveals that he attributed the success of "Supergirl's" Superman to the fact that Hoechlin was different from what fans had seen before.

"We were very cognizant of not wanting him to come in and steal her thunder, so this Superman we designed was something that you really haven't seen too much of. He's just starting out and we wanted to show a Superman who's been doing this for a decade and has gotten really really good at it." Kreisberg said.

Although no plot details have been revealed yet, Comic Book Movie reports that Superman's return to the Season 2 finale of "Supergirl" may have something to do with helping his cousin take down Rhea and her evil forces as well as the growing threat of Cadmus. The TV series is currently on hiatus but when it resumes at the end of the month, Kara will be tied up with stopping both Jack Spheer and Lena Luthor, who may be on the verge of finding out her biggest secret.

"Supergirl" airs every Monday at 8 pm on the CW. The Season 2 finale will air on May 22.
