After the successful launch of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro last year, the next version of the phone is ready for release. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is loaded with features that can make it competitive with other smartphones. Here is what the upcoming smartphone has got on tap for its users.

Gadgets Now has revealed that the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will come in two variants. The premium model will come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. The lower-end model will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Both phones will come with a 5.5-inch HD display with 720x1080 pixel resolution. It is also likely to come with a MediaTek chipset and a 4,050mAh battery.

Android Pure reports that the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will feature a 2.5D curved glass. It will include a 13MP and 5MP dual rear camera and a 5MP front camera. One model will be powered by a 2.5 GHz Deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor. The other model will have a deca-core processor Helio X25 processor. The Redmi Pro 2 is likely to run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 processor.

However, leaked images of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 does not show much confidence. It shows the presence of a single camera at the back which is a relative downgrade from the dual camera setup of its predecessor. In addition, a fingerprint sensor is located at the back below the camera which is unusual since the Redmi Pro had fingerprint sensors embedded at the front Home button.

As for the pricing, the premium model with 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM will cost 1,799 yuans ($261.25) while the lower end will have a price tag of 1,599 yuans ($241.25). There is no official release date yet but it is likely that the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be officially launched in July 2017 since the Redmi Pro was launched in July of 2016.
