Starbucks recently released its new limited-edition drink called Unicorn Frappuccino. This refreshment is drawing numerous attention from health authorities due to its extreme level sugar content.

The official website of Starbucks claimed that the 16-ounce grande size of Unicorn Frappuccino contained 59 grams of sugar, which is considered as too much. It caused headlines' descriptions as "Sugar Bomb" and an "Unsurprising Surprise." But still, it's not the company's most sugar-filled beverage.

According to Live Science, there were other initially released Frappuccinos sweeter than Unicorn Frappuccino. Two drinks can be entitled as the most sugary ones; these are Caffe Vanilla Frappuccino and the Pokémon GO Frappuccino. The latter is another limited-edition beverage of Starbucks launched in December. Both drinks were packed with 69 grams of sugar in a grande size.

Unicorn Frappuccino tastes sweet-and-sour. It’s pink with a streak of blue around it and with whipped cream and unicorn dust on its top. There’s actually no coffee or caffeine added in it, SELF reported.

"The problem with this drink is the sheer volume of sugar," Ginger Hultin, R.D.N., an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spokeswoman, told the news outlet. "What we’re looking at in this is vanilla syrup, mango syrup, crème frappuccino syrup, white chocolate mocha sauce, classic syrup—at least five types of syrups or sauces combined. And then they have the blue and pink powder, which I think is just colored sugar. It’s sugar in a lot of different forms."

Drinking one grande size of Unicorn Frappuccino nearly tripled the limit of sugar recommended by the American Heart Association. It said that women should only take an average of 25 grams sugar daily.

Consuming an excessive amount of sugar is not good for the body since it can cause an increase in insulin level. In the long run, too much sugar intake can boost weight and probably obesity, which is linked with serious health risks and even death. Therefore, drinking Unicorn Frappuccino should be done not as always.
