The release of the update in OS X Yosemite was done alongside iOS 8.1.1, and sought to address the issues of the original OS X Yosemite, where users complained of having difficulty in connecting to Wi-Fi, according to NDTV.

According to the release notes for the update, it stated that the OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 " improves the stability, compatibility, and security" of Macintosh computers.

The update comes with an improved Wi-Fi reliability as well as in its reliability when connecting to a Microsoft Exchange server.

Additionally, the release notes stated that the update fixes the Mac problems that may prevent Mail from sending messages through certain email service providers and resolves the issue that prevents users from connecting to remote computers using Back to Mac, according to Iphone Hacks.

Other improvements in the update includes addressing the issue encountered where sharing services, Notification Center widgets and Actions may not be available. The update also addresses an issue that could cause Notification Center settings to not be retained after a restart.

The update also resolves an issue that might prevent the Mac App Store from displaying certain updates and addresses an issue that could prevent some Mac mini computers from waking from sleep.

It also resolves an issue that might prevent  Time Machine from displaying older backups and addresses an issue that might prevent entering text in Japanese.

In addition for the improvements of the update for Mac computers, the update also benefits enterprise customers since it "allows you to append search domains for partially qualified domain names when performing DNS lookups (consult the discovery man page for more information)."

And lastly, the update addresses an issue where the Mac App Store might offer an update to Apple Remote Desktop when the latest version is already installed.

Where to Download

The update can be downloaded by going to the Mac App Store and choosing the Updates tab. But NDTV suggests that users backup their files using apps, such as Time Machine, before updating the Yosemite system.
