Kristin Cavallari Shows How to Exercise While Pregnant

"The Hills" star Kristin Cavallari isn't letting her pregnancy get in the way of staying fit.

The 28-year-old actress and fashion designer, who first rose to fame in the reality television series, "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County", announced earlier this month that she and her husband, Chicago Bears quarterback, Jay Cutler are expecting a baby girl later this year. In May, Cavallari announced via her app, Kristin Cavallari Official, "We're at it again! Thrilled to announce baby number 3 is on the way! The Cutler crew just keeps on growin'!"

More recently, she announced that the family is expecting a baby girl. "Our boys are so excited to have a little sister on the way!" The couple have two sons, Camden Jack, turning 3, and Jaxon Wyatt, 2.

But the actress and fashion designer isn't one to lay low during her pregnancy. In fact, Cavallari shared a photo of herself at a private gym, encouraging fans to check out her pregnancy fitness tips via her app, which is available for Apple and Android devices.

While pregnant with Jaxon Wyatt, Cavallari shared with Fit Pregnancy her diet for a healthy expecting body, which included quinoa, turkey sandwiches (which she made sure is microwaved for safety), kale chips for snacks, and coconut water, among other favorites.

Today, fans and followers can keep up with Kristin Cavallari through her app, which features her tips and insights on health, wellness, fashion, beauty, and parenting.

Like Cavallari, pregnant women may also engage in exercise (and are highly encouraged to by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists). The ACOG recommends at least 30 minutes of exercise in a day, for most days of the week. This helps boost the mother's mood, improve sleep, and reduce pregnancy aches and pains. Safe, equipment-free, and easy exercises include walking, swimming, dancing, and low-impact aerobics. It is also recommended that expectant mothers do stretching.

Fit Pregnancy also recommends a combination of exercises that include plies, leg lifts, planks, curls and lifts, and arm rows. In 2012, a study published in the medical journal Preventive Magazine revealed that expectant mothers who engage in an hour-long yoga session thrice a week were less at risk for having low birthweight babies, pregnancy-related diabetes, and high blood pressure.
