Sometimes crazy works. Listed below are some of the weirdest, most bizarre weight loss tricks, which are proven to be effective.

#1. Color coordinate meals:

A study, conducted by scientists from Cornell University, found that contrasting colors can actually help people eat less, states ABC News. More specifically, the color of food should contrast with the color of the plate.

In the study, participants who ate on plates that matched the color of the food, consumed 22 percent more than those who had contrasting plate and pasta colors. The Cornell scientists could not explain the outcome, but colors have been proven to affect the eating habits of people before.

For instance, psychologists confirmed a long time ago that red and yellow make people hungry, which is why food franchises, like McDonald's are red and yellow.

#2. Sleep in a cold room:

Turning up the AC will help you sleep better and improves the metabolism, reports Allure. "Sleeping in a chillier room is a great way to force your body to heat itself up for hours. You will burn calories keeping yourself warm," said Louis J. Aronne, director of the Comprehensive Weight Control Program at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City.

#3. Smell your food before eating:

Taking a big sniff of the food in front of you, is believed to trick the brain into thinking that it is actually eating, reports Reader's Digest. Dr. Alan R. Hirsch, from the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, tested the theory out on 3,000 people. He found that the people who smelled their food before eating ate less.

#4. Visualize previous meals:

When temptation strikes, conjure up a memory of your previous meal. Researchers, from the University of Birmingham, discovered that people who could recall their previous meal snacked less during the day.

#5. Save the carbohydrates for last:

Timing your carbohydrates is more effective than restricting their consumption, according to an Israeli study. The research revealed that eating carbohydrates later in the day can help people feel fuller throughout the day.

#6. Tie a ribbon around your waist:

According to Valerie Orsoni, a fitness guru, French women tie a ribbon around their waist and place it underneath their clothes throughout the day. The ribbon reminds them of their growing stomachs, while eating, especially when it begins to feel tighter.
