Musical artist and performer Rihanna is set to make her big screen comeback, as she was recently cast in the science fiction film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, alongside Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan, and Clive Owen, People reports. The announcement came via director Luc Besson (who is also the man behind Lucy), who took to Instagram to share the news.

Although Besson did not disclose what role Rihanna would play in the upcoming film, Variety reports that the film, which boasts of a large budget, has already enlisted three major visual effects firms to help create the visual masterpiece. Weta Digital, Industrial Light & Magic and Rodeo FX will be filling in the visual effects of the flm, which is set to shoot in Besson's studio at the Cite du Cinema in Saint-Denis in France.

The film is an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name, created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres. The novel follows Valerian, played by DeHaan, a time-traveling agent who, together with his partner Laureline, (played by Delevingne), set out to investigate a galactic empire.

Rihanna isn't a stranger to film, as she appeared in 2012's Battleship, and lent her voice to this year's animated film, Home. The singer also made appearances in This is the End in 2013, and Annie in 2014, Rolling Stone reports.

The singer seems to have a lot on her plate, as the New York Post reports that she finally closed a 7 month long negotiation with Samsung, who will sponsor Rihanna's upcoming album and tour. The $25 million deal marks one of the biggest music-marketing tie-ups of the last few years, a deal that took some time to be finalized because Rihanna made some last minute adjustments with her upcoming record titled ANTI.

The New York Post also reports that Samsung wants Rihanna to help them promote its Galaxy line of products and would like exclusive use of Rihanna-related video content to be released via its Milk Music radio service.

The 27 year old singer is also performing during the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show come November 10 on CBS.

Rihanna has also revealed several NSFW clips from her summer release, "B---- Better Have My Money" via her new video app from Stargate Media, Entertainment Weekly reports. Some of the footage may be viewed via Rihanna News, or fans can download the Stargate app for more content on Rihanna.
