'X-Men: Apocalypse' trailer, cast, release date & news: Nicholas Hoult shares film is different from 'Deadpool' and 'Gambit'

The X-Men era in Marvel films is coming to a close, with the last installment of the second trilogy hitting theaters in May next year. Marvel is already rolling out the new set of heroes to obsess over, beginning with last year's "Guardians of the Galaxy" (Avengers is also coming to a close with two parts of Infinity War in 2018 and 2019), and this year's "Ant-Man," and next year's "Deadpool" and "Gambit."
Nicholas Hoult, who plays the young Henry McCoy aka The Beast in "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past," is currently starring in the dark comedy film Kill Your Friends as the main character, Stelfox, and is doing rounds to promote the film. Of course, the media took the opportunity to talk to him about one of the biggest franchises he has ever been part of, and get a scoop of what's to come for Marvel superheroes.
"That's kind of the way all those superhero movies are going at the moment, isn't it? They're kind of getting bigger and bigger, and merging all those characters together," the 25-year-old actor told Comicbook. Marvel isn't the only studio to bring together characters, as DC will be releasing "Batman v Superman" next year.
Hoult seems to have a strong opinion on these superhero films, as Cinemablend reports the actor said in a recent interview, "At times I'll see superhero movies and admittedly be frustrated by them. It does feel like some are just packaging and they're not trying hard enough because they know it's a bankable formula."
"Tonally, I think Deadpool's very different from the X-Men world," he commented. "That's why they're going R-rated, and I'm excited with what they're doing with that. So who knows if they could ever merge and keep the integrity of the character for him?"
As for Marvel's Gambit film, which production has met with quite a few snags in the last months, Hoult said, "I used to watch the animated series, where Gambit and Beast were always my favorite characters! So I'm looking forward to seeing the Gambit movie as well."
Hoult is set to star in Danny Strong's upcoming "Rebel In The Rye" as J.D. Salinger, The Hollywood Reporter revealed in August. He's also set to star across Rooney Mara in the love story "The Discovery," with a script by director Charlie McDowell and Justin Lader, Variety reports.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" will be released on May 27, 2016.
