Making a great meal doesn't need to have a huge list of ingredients or using components that you have never heard off. Here are five recipes that are great for the fall season that only utilize five ingredients or less.

Keep in mind that this number does not include common spices such as salt and pepper or water as these elements are common in every household.

1.    Three-ingredient blueberry shortcakes

People tend to shy away from making desserts, especially for parties or Thanksgiving events, as they often entail making them from scratch or require a lot of time and effort. Something Swanky's version of blueberry short cakes only calls for 3 ingredients.

To make this quick and easy dessert, you need a can of Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers Biscuits, a can of blueberry pie filling and eight scoops of ice cream. If you are not into using pre-mixes, you are free to make your biscuits from scratch.

This recipe is good for up to eight servings. If you do not intend to make all eight, you can keep the remaining biscuit dough chilled in the fridge for up to seven days.

2.    Roasted celery root with cumin and parsley

Derived from the Food Network, this recipe makes a great appetizer or a healthy side dish. All you need is some cumin seeds, celery root, extra-virgin olive oil, red onion, parsley, kosher salt and pepper to taste.

This vegetable dish is quick and easy to make. All you need is half an hour and you ready to serve up to four people with this salad.

3.    Avocado chicken salad

Make good use with that leftover chicken with this healthy salad recipe from Hip 2 Save. All you need is some shredded chicken, a large avocado, chopped cilantro, salt and pepper to taste.

To make this dish, simply place all the ingredients in a bowl, mash them together and voila! You can use eat this as an appetizer, a side dish or even use it as a sandwich topping.

4.    Tomato basil salmon

All Recipes' main dish only calls for five ingredients: salmon, dried basil, tomato, olive oil and some grated Parmesan cheese. You can easily get this dish prepared in 30 minutes, including cooking time.

5.    Aquafaba chocolate mousse

Try out this sweet concoction from One Green Planet's that is sure not to give you a sugar rush or send you crashing afterwards. This vegan and gluten-free recipe calls for vegan chocolate, chickpeas, cream of tartar and some maple syrup for sweetness.

All you need is five minutes to make up to four servings of this delightful dessert.
