Fans will have to wait for the return of "Gotham" this February, but lead star Ben McKenzie had some interesting things to say about a particular character that fans last saw dead in the hands of Theo Galvan (James Frain). However, it seems that it isn't the last viewers will see of the character who is to become The Joker.

Comicbook reports that during an interview at Wizard World New Orleans, McKenzie let slip that there may be a future for Jerome when the panel moderator asked if the actor could tell the writers and producers to bring the character back in some way or another.

"Not only can we but we might," McKenzie said. "I can't say definitively but yes. I'll put it this way: almost nobody that you've seen go away is dead. They are all able to come back."

This bodes well for fans of not just Jerome, but the other fan favorite, Fish Mooney, played by Jada Pinkett Smith. Additionally, Cinemablend reports that viewers haven't seen the last of Barbara (Erin Richards). She's merely in a coma and probably resting before she wreaks more havoc in Gotham City.

Over the past season and a half, viewers have seen how each character had evolved since entering the dark world of Gotham City. It seems that this is only the beginning.

Sean Pertwee, who plays Alfred Pennyworth in the series, recently opened up to Digital Spy to share his thoughts on how committed the whole production is to bring Bruce Wayne's and each character's story to life over a span of numerous episodes every season.

"It's the honour and the privilege of working on a show like this that we get the opportunity to discover these characters over 22 hours per season," the 51-year-old British actor admitted. "It's very succinct when you make a movie—you get one scene to tell a huge chunk of life sometimes. And now we're being given the opportunity—with extraordinary support from Warner Bros. and Fox—to develop over, so far, nearly 44 hours of television."

Pertwee adds that showrunners Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon are more than just huge Batman fans—they actually work with DC Comics' Geoff Johns.

"They're very respectful of what the parameters are and where we can go with some of these characters," Pertwee shared. "But Geoff has trusted us and let us redefine elements of it—of these characters that we know and love. We all know where they end up, but the fun is seeing them get there."

Pertwee promises that the second half of the sophomore season will be different with the introduction of villains Hugo Strange (BD Wong) and Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow). Fans will have to tune in every Wednesday at 10 p.m. for what's next on "Gotham."
