More or less twelve years after "Friends" went off the air, fans are now reportedly going to see the cast back on TV together. Unfortunately, one star said he won't be there with the rest of them.

Matthew Perry confirmed that he will be missing out on the "Friends" reunion that's happening in February. According to E! Online, Perry will be working on the play "The End of Longing," which will begin rehearsing on Feb. 2 in London.

NBC earlier announced that the "Friends" cast -- composed of Perry, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer -- will be reuniting for a two-hour special in honor of TV director James Burrows, who celebrated a career milestone. Burrows directed his 1000th episode for sitcoms back in November, according to Deadline.  It was for the still unaired TV comedy "Crowded."

"NBC executives were aware of [Perry's schedule] prior to their TCA announcement yesterday," according to the actor's rep, Lisa Kasteler, via Time. While he won't be on the broadcast live, Matthew will be amenable to taping his tribute. However, Kasteler added, "This is not the reunion people have been hoping for."

In making the announcement of the "reunion," NBC honcho Bob Greenblatt actually hinted that not every cast member would be present. "I'm hoping that all six of them will be in the same room at the same time, but I'm not sure of that. I'm not sure if we can logistically pull that off," he told the press during the Television Critics Association panel, per Entertainment Tonight.

"Friends" aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004 and Burrows directed about 15 of its episode, including "The One the Morning After" and "The One Where Ross and Rachel Take a Break" in 1997. These episodes were some of the best on the show, according to Sydney Morning Herald and Digital Spy. Burrows also directed episodes of "Mike and Molly," "The Big Bang Theory," "Frasier," and "Will & Grace."

Meanwhile, since the end of "Friends," the cast actually had mini-reunions on television over the years:
