It looks like Jeremy Lin fans will have to change teams to support him, as the first Chinese-American NBA player traded his Los Angeles Lakers jersey for the Charlotte Hornets.

According to Yahoo!, the 26-year-old NBA player is very excited with the trade and can't wait for the new NBA season to start. "Linsanity," as what fans and media called his superb action in the court during the New York Knicks’ winning streak back in 2012, believes this move will help him reach his fullest potential.

Analysts believe that with Lin and Hornets coach Steve Clifford in one team, a playmaker spot may be given to the Harvard graduate. This will enable Lin to extend his aggressiveness in the court and create shooting opportunities for him and his teammates.

ESPN adds that Lin has officially signed the two year, $4.37 million contract last week and he is looking forward to fit in with the Hornets.

Back in 2012, he has turned himself from someone who’s a waiver-wire pickup into a star-quality phenomenon by taking long shots and an overall solid performance, which led him to score 14.6 points per game.

He left the Knicks to sign up with Houston Rockets but he felt he didn't quite fit in, as his stellar performance burned out for the rest of the season. He got traded to the Lakers, but that relationship didn’t last well.

Hornets coach believes that the addition of Lin to the team could change the game for them as Lin is hungry to prove himself worthy again, probably better than the "Linsanity era."

International Business Times writes that Lin expects to fit in nicely with the Hornets, stating that they are both in the same boat.

Lin is long past his Knicks days which has been noticed all-throughout his career after them. He became slower, played poor defense and had so much turnovers. Similarly, the Charlotte Hornets didn’t do as good this season, finishing with a 33-49 performance due to poor offense and inconsistent scoring from players.

If paired with players like Kemba Walker and Al Jefferson, Lin can be the perfect playmaker for them, like freeing up lanes for Walker to shoot from or creating more space in the paint for Jefferson to do his thing.

Overall, Lin believes this change in team can help him refine his craft better, creating more opportunities for him to fit in and return his game.
